FEDPOFFA SUG Visits Kwara State Commissioner of Police Over Rising Insecurity

The leadership of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, has paid a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Commissioner of Police to discuss pressing security concerns affecting students in the Offa community.

The delegation, led by the Executive President, Comrade Abdulazeez Majeed Olanrewaju (Achiever MRM), expressed the Union’s deep concern over the recent wave of robbery incidents targeting students within and around the school environment.

During the meeting, Comrade Olanrewaju highlighted that the increasing insecurity has disrupted academic activities and instilled fear among students, many of whom now find it difficult to study or sleep peacefully.

He appealed to the Commissioner to deploy more police personnel to the Offa axis to ensure the safety of students and restore public confidence in security within the community.

The Union President also urged the Police Command to caution its officers in Offa against acts of harassment and brutality, emphasizing the need for a civil and student-friendly approach to law enforcement.

As part of proactive measures, the Union extended an invitation to the Commissioner to attend the forthcoming Security Summit Program, designed to promote collaboration and dialogue between law enforcement agencies and the student community.

In his response, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police commended the Union for its initiative and assured them of the Force’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and properties in Offa.

He promised to strengthen surveillance and patrol operations in the area while calling for closer cooperation between the Police and the SUG through intelligence sharing to tackle criminal activities effectively.

Furthermore, the Commissioner vowed that those responsible for recent attacks on students would be apprehended and brought to justice.

He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s readiness to protect all students and maintain peace across the state.

The SUG expressed appreciation to the Kwara State Police Command for its prompt response and pledged continued partnership toward building a safer and more conducive learning environment for all Fedpoffites.
