Comrade Temitope Afolabi Felicitates Sagamu Monarch, LG Chairman On Sagamu Day

The President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Comrade Temitope Afolabi, popularly known as BIG AFO, has felicitated with the Chairman of Sagamu Local Government, Hon. Jubril Olasile Odulate (AFO), and His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adewale Osiberu Iruganyin Ekun III, the Elepe of Epe, Sagamu, Ogun State, for the 2025 Sagamu Day celebration which commences today Saturday, November 1.

In a goodwill message made available on Friday, Comrade Temitope Afolabi, a proud son of Sagamu, expressed heartfelt admiration for the Elepe of Epe and the local government chairman for their unwavering dedication to the progress, unity, and cultural preservation of the ancient town.

He described Sagamu Day as more than just a celebration, calling it a “symbol of communal pride and the enduring legacy of Sagamu’s greatness.”

According to him, “Sagamu Day embodies our collective strength, heritage, and the spirit of togetherness that defines us as a people. I am proud to identify with this great tradition that showcases our unity and resilience.”

Comrade Afolabi commended Oba Osiberu for his fatherly leadership and commitment to fostering peace and harmony within the kingdom, while also praising Hon. Odulate for his people-oriented governance and contributions to grassroots development.

“As a son of Sagamu, I am deeply inspired by the leadership of Kabiyesi and Hon. Odulate, whose partnership continues to bring tangible progress to our community,” he added.

He further encouraged the youths of Sagamu to embrace the cultural values that the festival represents, emphasising that development can only be achieved through unity, discipline, and active participation in community affairs.

The annual Sagamu Day celebration, which has drawn prominent indigenes, cultural enthusiasts, and dignitaries from across Ogun State and beyond, features a blend of traditional performances, cultural displays, and developmental engagements.
