The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vowed to reclaim its “lost glory” and restore the values that once distinguished it as a credible opposition platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Nafiu Bala, who leads a faction of the party, made the declaration in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja. He accused some “political opportunists” of infiltrating the party and attempting to hijack its leadership structure.
According to Bala, those individuals, who he described as “political vagabonds,” have been parading themselves as party leaders without undergoing proper registration or fulfilling the requirements for membership.
“The ADC remains a platform for disciplined, visionary Nigerians. We are working tirelessly to restore the glory of our great party, which has been infiltrated by individuals who sneaked in through the back door to sow confusion,” Bala said.
He warned such elements to desist from tampering with the existing party structure, stressing that their actions have disrupted the unity and focus that once defined the ADC.
Bala noted that genuine members of the party are already taking decisive steps to reposition the ADC for effective participation in national politics.
“We wish to make it abundantly clear that those who parade themselves as members without proper registration have no place in the ADC. Anyone who intends to join our movement must begin from the ward level, in line with our constitution and party guidelines,” he stated.
Bala reaffirmed his faction’s commitment to rebuilding the ADC into a strong, people-oriented party capable of leading the opposition in 2027.
He also urged members across the country to remain steadfast and resist attempts by “self-seeking politicians” to destabilise the organisation.
