The management of Pathfinder College of Health Technology (PACOHET), Iragbiji, Osun State, on Thursday, inaugurated a new Governing Board to steer the institution’s policies and strategic direction, with Dr. Jimoh Olorede, a renowned media scholar from the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, appointed as Chairman.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the college’s campus along Isanpa-Eleesun-Osogbo Road, was presided over by the Founder and Proprietor of the institution, Alhaji Bisi Olaboopo.
Olaboopo expressed optimism that the newly constituted board would further reposition the college for greater excellence and institutional growth.
Other members of the Governing Board include Dr. Yunus Olarewaju Akeem (Osun State University), Mr. Adeyanju Adebayo, Dr. Olaboopo Olakunle Faisal (United Kingdom), Mr. Adebayo Matthew Olusegun (Director, Ministry of Education), Dr. (Mrs) Olajumoke Khadijat Olaboopo-Ibrahim (United States), and Dr. Olaboopo Olatunji Ismail.
Alhaji Olaboopo commended the members for their commitment to education and community service.
He described their selection as “a blend of integrity, competence, and professionalism needed to guide the college into its next phase of development.”
According to him, the governing board is the highest policy-making body of the institution and plays a crucial role in ensuring sound governance, academic excellence, and administrative efficiency.
He said, “The Pathfinder College of Health Technology has continued to raise the bar in health education. With the calibre of personalities on this new board, we are confident that the institution will witness even greater transformation in academic quality, infrastructure, and community impact.”
In his inaugural remarks, the Chairman, Dr. Jimoh Olorede, described his appointment as “a call to service,” pledging to dedicate his experience and expertise toward advancing the vision and mission of the college.
He said, “This appointment is an opportunity to contribute to the growth of an institution that has already distinguished itself in the training of health professionals. We are fully committed to promoting academic excellence, innovation, and integrity in all our operations.”
Dr. Olorede, who also serves as the Head of the Department of Strategic Communication and Media Studies at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, expressed confidence in the competence and experience of other board members.
He said the members’ diverse backgrounds would help strengthen institutional governance and academic quality.
He added, “The composition of this board reflects careful selection and merit. We have seasoned academics, public administrators, and professionals both within and outside the country. With this wealth of experience, I am confident that we will achieve all set goals by God’s grace.”
The newly inaugurated chairman further disclosed that the board would soon hold its first official meeting to outline its operational roadmap, with plans to deepen collaborations with local and international institutions, as well as development partners committed to promoting quality health education.
Dr. Olorede emphasized that the board’s leadership would focus on building strong academic partnerships, attracting investment, and strengthening the institution’s internal systems to enhance teaching, research, and service delivery.
“The college is not new; it has existed for over a decade, producing competent health professionals who are contributing meaningfully to society. We will continue to build on this legacy by entering into collaborations and partnerships that align with our mission of ensuring quality education and professionalism,” he said.
