[PHOTOS] FEDPOFFA SUG Engages Police, Balogun of Offa on Campus Security and Student Safety

In response to recent security concerns affecting students, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa (FEDPOFFA), Kwara State has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety of students within and around the campus.

The SUG executives, led by the President-elect, Comrade Abdulazeez Abdulmajeed Olanrewaju (Achiever MRM), held a crucial meeting with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Offa and the Balogun of Offa, High Chief Maruf Olaniyi Balogun to discuss practical measures aimed at strengthening campus and community security.

During the meeting, Comrade Achiever MRM expressed the students’ deep concern over recent security incidents and sought the support of both the traditional and law enforcement authorities in ensuring a safer environment for students.

In response, High Chief Maruf Olaniyi Balogun pledged his commitment to improving security in the area and announced the deployment of additional guards across the town.

Similarly, the DPO assured the Union of increased police patrols, particularly during the night, and closer collaboration with student leaders to swiftly address any emerging threats.

The Union advised students not to panic if they hear gunshots late at night, explaining that such sounds are likely from Balogun’s security guards or police patrols conducting safety operations.

Reaffirming the Union’s commitment to students’ welfare, Comrade Achiever urged all students to remain vigilant and follow basic safety guidelines, including staying informed through official channels, avoiding late-night movements alone, and promptly reporting suspicious activities to the authorities.

He emphasized that the SUG remains resolute in its mission to make the institution a safe and conducive learning environment, thanking both the police and the Balogun for their swift intervention.
