As part of activities marking her forthcoming turbaning as the Gimbiyar Dange, Barr. Sa’adat Yunusa Mohammed, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Sa’ar Mata Foundation and Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to the Governor of Sokoto State on Poverty Reduction Agency, has embarked on a pre-turbaning humanitarian outreach across Sokoto metropolis — an initiative that beautifully blends tradition with service.
The outreach, held yesterday, featured visits to the Specialist Hospital along Sultan Abubakar Road and an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in the state capital.
During the visits, Barr. Sa’adat offered financial support to bedridden patients, donated essential food items and relief materials to displaced families, and delivered messages of hope and compassion to those facing hardship.
Speaking during the exercise, Barr. Sa’adat explained that her motivation goes beyond ceremony, rooted instead in empathy and civic responsibility.
“Before we can fix Nigeria, we must first feel Nigeria. This is what our religion teaches us; to be there for one another and to support those who need it the most. We will create more programs aimed at empowering women and youth, especially in areas of livelihood, health, and education. As the Gimbiyar Dange, I am shouldered with great responsibility to support my people and those in need.” she said.
Her gesture has since drawn glowing commendations from community leaders, women groups, and political stakeholders, who described her as a bridge between leadership and compassion.
A passionate advocate of inclusive governance, Barr. Sa’adat serves in several strategic roles within the All Progressives Congress (APC), including: Member, APC Operations and Logistics – Women Presidential Campaign Council; Member, Contact and Mobilization Committee – Women PCC; Deputy Director, Administration, APC Amalgamated Support Groups; and National Coordinator, opoo Sa’ar Mata Foundation for Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign Team, among others.
Through the Sa’ar Mata Foundation, she has empowered hundreds of women and youths across Northern Nigeria through vocational and digital skills training, educational sponsorships, and rights advocacy, the efforts which align seamlessly with her official mandate on poverty reduction in Sokoto State.
