[OPINION] We Must Not Play Politics with the Lives of Our People

As concerned citizens, it is painful to watch how some individuals try to turn genuine security challenges into tools of political propaganda. Every life lost, every home unsettled, and every act of violence should remind us of our shared humanity not divide us further.

The present administration in Kwara State, under the leadership of His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has never taken the issue of security lightly. Those who are sincere and observant can attest to the ongoing efforts to strengthen community policing, support local vigilantes, and improve coordination among security agencies.

No society is free from challenges, but what defines good leadership is the courage to confront them head-on, not to exploit them for selfish advantage. Sadly, some opposition figures have chosen to dance on the pains of the people, using insecurity as a campaign tool rather than joining hands to seek lasting solutions. Such an attitude is not only irresponsible but also inhumane.

At a time when we should all unite to protect our communities, spreading fear and falsehoods for political relevance is wickedness in its highest form. The government deserves constructive criticism, not deliberate attempts to mislead the masses and sow distrust.

Let us remember that peace and progress are collective responsibilities. Security begins with community cooperation from reporting suspicious movements to supporting our local security architecture.

I stand with every sincere effort of government and all peace-loving citizens working tirelessly to keep our people safe. Our unity, vigilance, and faith in God will continue to sustain us.
