Immediate Former Kwara PDP Chairman Babatunde Mohammed Dumps Party, Joins ADC

The immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State and former Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Babatunde A. Mohammed, has formally resigned from the PDP after 23 years of active membership.

In a letter dated October 15, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP, Agunjin Ward, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Mohammed announced his decision to quit the party, citing personal reasons. The letter was received by the ward chairman on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

“This is to officially inform you that I have resigned my membership of the PDP from Wednesday, 15th October 2025,” the letter read. “I joined the PDP in 2002, precisely 23 years ago, without leaving the party even for a day. But, the reason for my resignation is purely personal.”

The former state chairman expressed appreciation to the party’s leadership, stakeholders, and members for their support and cooperation during his years of service, particularly when he served as the Kwara PDP chairman.

Sources close to the politician confirmed that Rt. Hon. Mohammed has now pitched his tent with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a new phase in his political journey.

Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, a seasoned politician and former lawmaker, is widely regarded for his role in grassroots mobilization and his contributions to legislative development in Kwara State.

Also, Rt. Hon. Mohammed’s presence at the ADC’s unveiling ceremony in Ilorin and his public alignment with the party signalled his full defection to the ADC.

Political observers say his move is expected to reshape the political landscape in Kwara State as the ADC continues to position itself as a credible alternative in the state’s evolving political scene.
