A frontline Kwara State House of Assembly aspirant and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Wasiu Hammed Ajibola, has officially declared his intention to contest the Ojomu/Balogun Constituency seat in the 2027 general election.
Ajibola, who previously vied for the same position in the 2023 polls, made his declaration during a meeting with PDP ward chairmen across the constituency held on Friday at the Offa PDP Secretariat.
According to his brother, Hammed Tajudeen Anderson, who also serves as the PDP Balogun Ward Chairman, the meeting had in attendance party chairmen from Balogun, Ojomu Central A, Ojomu Central B, Ojomu North North-West, and Ojomu South-East wards — all of which make up the Ojomu/Balogun Constituency.
Anderson disclosed that Ajibola used the meeting to reaffirm his commitment to effective representation and to canvass for unity among party stakeholders.
“He met with the PDP Ward Chairmen in Balogun, Ojomu Central A, Ojomu Central B, Ojomu North North West, and Ojomu South East. These are the wards that make up the Ojomu/Balogun Constituency. He met with them and declared his ambition. He spoke about unity, progress, and cooperation among aspirants so as to deliver the party come 2027,” Anderson said.
Ajibola’s declaration comes days after his campaign graphic tagged “Effective Leadership 2027” and “Ajibola Dee… Irorun Ati Ayo Dee” surfaced on social media, sparking political conversations within the Offa PDP circle.
Party faithful who attended the meeting described the move as a timely step towards early preparation ahead of the 2027 elections, commending Ajibola for his continued engagement with the grassroots and his emphasis on collaboration for the party’s success.
As the political atmosphere in Kwara begins to heat up, Ajibola’s early declaration is seen as a sign of strategic readiness to reclaim the Ojomu/Balogun seat for the PDP in the next electoral cycle.
