The Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) has commended the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) for its recent donation of educational materials to secondary school students across the eleven local government areas of Ibadanland.
In a statement signed by its National President, Aare Giwa Kamorudeen Olawale, the students’ body described the intervention as a timely and commendable gesture that underscores CCII’s unwavering commitment to the advancement of education in Ibadan.
Aare Giwa praised the CCII leadership under Chief Sulaimon Ajewole for “demonstrating practical concern for the academic welfare of Ibadan youths,” adding that the initiative would go a long way in motivating students to strive for excellence in their studies.
He said, “This laudable intervention by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes has further reinforced our confidence in the capacity of Ibadan’s traditional and socio-cultural institutions to drive meaningful community development. The gesture will not only enhance learning but also rekindle hope among students from less privileged backgrounds.”
The FIBSU President noted that the council’s donation of textbooks, mathematical sets, and notebooks was a strong signal of its readiness to complement the government’s efforts in strengthening the education sector.
He further called on other well-meaning Ibadan sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, to emulate CCII’s example by investing in the intellectual growth of the city’s young population.
Aare Giwa also reaffirmed FIBSU’s readiness to partner with CCII and other stakeholders on initiatives that promote youth empowerment, academic excellence, and cultural preservation in Ibadanland.
He concluded, “Education remains the most sustainable tool for human capital development. What CCII has done is not merely a donation it is a legacy of hope and a reaffirmation of Ibadan’s age-long tradition of community solidarity and progress.”
