The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, vowing to return to the political turf with renewed determination and divine conviction.
Adelabu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made his declaration in a viral video released on Saturday, insisting that his latest ambition is inspired not by personal gain, but by a commitment to serve and uplift the people of Oyo State.
Speaking passionately in Yoruba, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria described his political journey as one of resilience and faith. He said he had paid his dues through perseverance, having previously contested against the incumbent governor, Seyi Makinde, in both the 2019 and 2023 elections.
“I have been on this political journey for a while. Life and politics have taught me that one may not always get what one deserves at the first attempt,” he stated.
Reaffirming his readiness for another shot at the governorship, Adelabu declared: “In 2027, it is our turn — èmi lòkàn! As God has revealed it, Adelabu àwálòkàn! Penkelemesi èmilòkàn!”
He further hinted that his campaign structure would adopt a grassroots-driven approach, promising to embark on an extensive door-to-door mobilisation across the 33 local government areas of the state.
“By the grace of God and our collective will, victory is not just possible — it is certain,” the Minister said confidently.
