The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr Bolaji Abdullahi, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is “dead and only awaiting its obituary,” signalling a bold political statement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abdullahi made the remark on Saturday during the official unveiling of the ADC Secretariat in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The former Minister of Sports asserted that the ADC now stands as the only credible opposition capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), both in Kwara and across the federation.
“The question is no longer whether Kwarans want the APC — that question has already been answered. They don’t,” Abdullahi declared. “The question now is whether we can convince them that the ADC is the only viable alternative, and that’s precisely what we intend to do in the coming elections.”
Abdullahi, who also lamented the rising insecurity across rural parts of the state, said the menace had crippled farming activities and disrupted livelihoods in agrarian communities.
“Our people can no longer go to their farms without fear. The government must do more to restore peace and protect the lives of its citizens,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, former Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, described the commissioning of the party secretariat as the dawn of a new political journey for the state.
“This is the beginning of a new direction in our political evolution. The ADC is poised to build a platform that truly reflects the aspirations and hopes of the people of Kwara,” Ahmed said.
