Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for lifting the emergency rule earlier declared in Rivers State, describing the decision as a timely intervention that restored the people’s confidence in democracy.
Wike, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said the President’s action was not only proactive but also a demonstration of his commitment to peace and stability in the country.
According to him, Tinubu’s swift move averted further political turmoil in the state and safeguarded its democratic structures.
“The President has once again shown leadership by prioritising the unity and progress of Rivers State. His intervention has rekindled the confidence of our people in his government,” Wike said.
The former Rivers governor commended residents of the state for their support for Tinubu and urged them to sustain their trust in his administration’s efforts to put the nation back on the path of growth.
Wike also appealed to political stakeholders in the state to put aside personal differences and work in harmony for the collective interest of the people.
He warned against activities of those he described as “fifth columnists” who thrive on fuelling crisis, stressing that Rivers State was now poised to project only positive stories.
“From Rivers State going forward, the only news that will emanate will be that of peace, progress and development,” Wike assured.
