Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has vowed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be retired from power in 2027.
El-Rufai, who spoke during a Channels Television programme on Sunday, said he and other opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, have the political clout and strategy to unseat the APC.
The former minister, who was among the architects of the APC merger in 2013, declared that the opposition knows how to dismantle the party it once built.
“We formed the APC; we know where the dead body is buried. Some of them, like Atiku, know where the PDP’s dead body is buried. Together we can face APC. We don’t need people from nowhere to challenge the ruling party,” he said.
El-Rufai criticised the Tinubu administration, accusing it of worsening the economy and failing to address security challenges, despite promises of renewed hope.
In May, El-Rufai, Atiku, Amaechi and other political figures rallied behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC), unveiling a coalition designed to provide a formidable opposition platform ahead of the 2027 general election.
Political watchers say the statement not only throws a direct challenge to President Tinubu but also signals what could be a bruising contest for power in the next electoral cycle.
