Seven Accord Party LG Chairmen Defect to APC in Kwara South

The political base of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State received a major boost on Sunday as seven Local Government Chairmen of the Accord Party in Kwara South formally declared their intention to join the ruling party.

The declaration took place at the Offa residence of Honourable Abdulwaheed Gbenga Yusuf (JK), the lawmaker representing Eesa/Shawo/Igboidun Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly.

Those who defected include Ibrahim Aliyu (Offa LG), Michael Garuba (Ifelodun LG), Aremu Olabisi Enoch (Isin LG), Asaolu Kehinde Silas (Oke-Ero LG), Hammed Olasunkanmi Balogun (Irepodun LG), Oladele Felix Sunday (Ekiti LG), and Olasunkanmi Piters (Oyun LG).

Speaking on behalf of the group, the defectors praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for what they described as his people-oriented leadership and developmental strides across the state.

They pledged loyalty to the APC and promised to mobilise their supporters in Kwara South behind the party.

In his response, Hon. Gbenga Yusuf welcomed the new entrants, noting that their defection reflected a growing trust in the leadership style of Governor AbdulRazaq.

He assured them of equal treatment within the APC structure, saying their decision would further strengthen the party ahead of future political contests.

He concluded that the development further cements APC’s dominance in Kwara South and signals widening grassroots support for both Governor AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
