
The Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Architect Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, has expressed deep sorrow over the gruesome killings in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, earlier today, Sunday, September 28, 2025.
In reaction to the incident, Senator Ashiru has been in strategic consultations with top security chiefs throughout the day, with encouraging outcomes aimed at bringing a permanent end to the menace of banditry and criminality in the state.
The Senator also held a crucial briefing with the Chief of Army Staff, where he secured a firm assurance that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Ibadan, will immediately relocate to Kwara State to take direct control of the situation and restore confidence in affected communities.
Senator Ashiru commiserates with the families of the slain vigilantes, hunters, and residents, and extends his condolences to the people of Oke-Ode.
He described the incident as a painful loss not only to the community but to the entire Kwara South Senatorial District.
The Deputy Senate Leader reinforced his commitment that he will continue to work with the Federal Government, security agencies, and community leaders to ensure peace and security across Kwara South.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and the quick release of abducted persons.
He concluded that Kwara must not be allowed to bow to criminal forces.
