Nollywood has again been thrown into mourning following the death of Ayomikun, the only child of veteran actress, Peju Ogunmola. He was 24.
The sad development, confirmed on Tuesday, has left colleagues and fans of the actress reeling in grief. Details surrounding the circumstances of Ayomikun’s death were still sketchy as at press time.
Ayomikun, described by friends as vibrant, cheerful and deeply devoted to his mother, was raised singlehandedly by Ogunmola after the death of her husband, the late actor Oluweri.
Tributes have continued to pour in from Nollywood stakeholders. Popular actor Yemi Solade, in an Instagram post, described the news as “heartbreaking”, adding: “My prayers are with Peju Ogunmola at this time.”
Veteran actress Toyin Adegbola also expressed her condolences, saying: “We have lost a young promising soul. May God grant his mother the strength to bear this loss.”
The Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) is expected to release an official condolence message in the coming days.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced by the family.
