The Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its Deputy Registrar (Students’ Affairs), Alhaji Rahman Onike.
Onike reportedly fell ill shortly after delivering a lecture on campus on Thursday. Despite being rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention, he was later confirmed dead.
The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Opeyemi Olawore, in a statement issued on Friday, confirmed the development on behalf of the Rector, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi.
“The management announces with deep sorrow the passing of Alhaji Rahman Onike, Deputy Registrar (Students’ Affairs), who became indisposed shortly after a lecture session and, despite swift medical attention, could not survive,” the statement read in part.
Described by colleagues and students as a dedicated administrator, Onike’s death has left the OYSCATECH community in shock.
Funeral arrangements, according to Islamic rites, are expected to be announced by his family.
