KWHA Speaker, Rt Hon Danladi Reaffirms Assembly’s Commitment to Security At NSCDC’s Summit

The Kwara State House of Assembly has expressed readiness to continue partnering with security agencies in tackling insecurity across the state.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, stated this on Thursday at a security summit convened by the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in collaboration with the Association of Licensed Private Guard Companies of Nigeria.

The event, held at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin, had as its theme “The Role of Licensed Private Security Guards in Crime Prevention and Intelligence Gathering.”

Danladi, who was represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Ogbeni Seun Ogunniyi, praised the initiative of the NSCDC under the leadership of the State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed, and the newly inaugurated executives of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) in the state.

He described the summit as a strategic move to strengthen synergy between government security agencies and private guard operators.

“The House of Assembly remains committed to engaging security stakeholders proactively and institutionalizing innovative legislative frameworks that will further guarantee public safety in Kwara,” the Speaker assured.

He emphasized that the government is working in close collaboration with relevant agencies to address prevailing security challenges while also exploring the intelligence-gathering capacity of private security outfits.

Delivering the keynote address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, Mr. Aliyu Muhideen, who represented Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

Heads of major security formations—including the Police, Armed Forces, DSS, EFCC, Road Safety, Immigration, Customs, and Correctional Service—joined other stakeholders, such as members of the National Forest Guards and licensed private security companies, in robust deliberations on how to deploy human and technical resources more effectively in combating crime.
