The Oba of Babanla in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, His Royal Highness Oba Aliyu Alabi Yusuf (Arojojoye II), has withdrawn the defamation suit he instituted against four members of his community.
The withdrawal notice, filed at the Upper Area Court, Ganmo, was dated September 15, 2025, and signed by the monarch’s legal representatives from Lambo Akanbi & Co.
The case, with suit number UACG/DC/305/2025, had earlier been scheduled for hearing on September 22. The defendants — Mr. Salaudeen Abdulrafiu, Odofin Saheed, Mr. Abdulsalam Abdullateef Olatunji, and Pastor Fatai Folaranmi Ajide — were accused of circulating defamatory messages on the Babanla Community WhatsApp platform, allegedly linking the royal family to banditry.
In the notice of discontinuance, the complainant’s counsel stated that the decision followed the intervention of stakeholders in Babanla, Ifelodun Local Government, and across Kwara State, who waded in to restore peace and harmony.
The notice cited Section 360 of the Kwara State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2018, which empowers a complainant to withdraw a direct criminal complaint with the court’s approval.
By this development, the defamation case against the four community members has been formally discontinued, signaling a reconciliatory move within the embattled town.
