The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the relocation of its orientation camp from Yikpata in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State to the premises of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, over rising security threats.

The decision followed heightened concerns about armed bandit attacks in parts of Edu and Patigi local government areas, which have left residents in fear and disrupted community activities in recent weeks.

Confirming the development on Thursday, the NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, said the move was approved by the state government as a proactive step to ensure the safety of corps members.

According to him, security agencies, including the military, will be mobilised to the new camp to guarantee maximum protection throughout the three-week orientation programme.

“We are fully prepared to host the orientation course, and I want to assure prospective corps members that their safety and welfare remain our utmost priority,” Onifade stated.

He added that corps members posted to the state are expected to resume between September 24 and October 14, 2025. A monitoring team from the NYSC headquarters in Abuja will also visit the temporary facility in Ilorin to ensure it meets operational standards.
