The African Democratic Congress has denied claims that the Independent National Electoral Commission confirmed a list of its state chairmen nationwide.
The party, in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the report titled “Coalition Update: INEC Confirms ADC State Chairmen Nationwide” as “fake news” deliberately planted to mislead members and sow confusion.
“To the best of our knowledge and verification, INEC has issued no such confirmation, neither officially nor unofficially,” Abdullahi said.
He clarified that the responsibility of selecting and approving state leaders rests solely with the party, stressing that INEC’s role was limited to recognising lists submitted after due process had been followed.
“The process of constituting and ratifying state leadership within any political party lies squarely within the party’s constitutional prerogative. INEC only recognises what the party submits through the appropriate channels,” Abdullahi stated.
The spokesperson urged members and the general public to disregard the alleged list, while advising party stakeholders to remain calm and await official communication from the national leadership.
According to him, the ADC remains committed to discipline, structure, and internal democracy, assuring supporters that genuine updates on party leadership would only be released via verified platforms.
