The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has commended Ikirun College of Health Technology, Osun State, for what it described as its show of excellence and commitment to global best practices in health education.

The commendation came during a verification visit to the institution’s Public Health Department yesterday, Monday, September 15, 2025.

The exercise, according to the Board, was part of its statutory quality assurance mandate for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

Led by Mr. Ayo Aroge, who represented the Executive Secretary of the NBTE, the verification team also included Mrs. Titilola Idowu Amire and Miss Khadijat Ismaila. They toured the College’s lecture halls, laboratories, library, and other teaching facilities.

The team expressed satisfaction with the school’s investments in infrastructure, staff development, and student-centered learning environment.

It noted that they reflect a clear commitment to producing competent health professionals.

Speaking during the exercise, Mr. Aroge stressed the importance of skills acquisition in today’s rapidly changing health sector.

“We are in an era where skills, not certificates alone, drive national growth and development. Institutions like Ikirun College of Health Technology must continue to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on competencies that align with global standards,” he said.

In his welcome address, the Chief Academic Officer of the College, Mr. Salaudeen Oyewale, reaffirmed the institution’s readiness to meet NBTE requirements while pledging its continued dedication to excellence, discipline, and community service.

“Our priority remains providing an enabling environment for quality teaching, learning, and innovation. We are determined to train health professionals who will serve Osun, Nigeria, and the global health space,” he stated.

Also present to receive the team were the Registrar, Mr. Abdullahi Adeniyi, and the Acting Head of Public Health Department, Mr. Fuhad Olaogun. Both expressed delight at the Board’s commendation and assured that the department would continue to uphold high standards in health education.

The visit is expected to pave the way for full accreditation of the Public Health Department. This will boost the College’s capacity to produce skilled manpower for Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
