
The Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) has applauded the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, for prioritising education and youth development through his free holiday coaching initiative.
Under the leadership of its National President, Aare Giwa Kamorudeen Olawale, the Union described the scheme as a timely intervention that has improved students’ academic performance while keeping them productively engaged during the long school break.
During his inspection of the centres located at Muslim Grammar School, Odinjo; Prospect High School, Abanla; Community Secondary School, Jogbin; and Abbey Technical, Olugbemi Road, the council boss charged students to take their studies seriously and remain focused. He urged them to emulate the discipline and dedication of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, noting that education remains the surest foundation for future greatness.
In its reaction, FIBSU commended Olatunji for his passion and vision. The Union said his message to the students, encouraging them to work hard, uphold moral discipline, and cultivate gratitude, reflected the values of true leadership.
The student body also congratulated the council chairman on his recent recognition as Outstanding Chairman of the Year by Radio Nigeria, South West Zonal Office, describing the award as a well-deserved honour for serving the people.
The statement, jointly endorsed by FIBSU’s National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Musa Olalekan, and the Director of Media and Publicity, Comrade Adesina Quadri Ademola, emphasised that the Chairman’s leadership aligns with Governor Makinde’s sustainable development agenda and stands as a model worthy of emulation across Oyo State.
