
The leadership of the Federal Fire Service, Kwara State command has sought for a collaboration with the members of the Association of Kwara Online media practitioners (ASKOMP).
This was the focus of the courtesy visit made by the newly appointed Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the command, Assistant Superintendent of Fire I (ASF I) Modibbo Ibrahim to ASKOMP Chairman, Mr. Salihu Shola Taofeek who also doubles as the Publisher and CEO of The Informant247.
Modibbo in his remarks commended ASKOMP for its work and emphasized the importance of media in educating the public and shaping narratives.
He said “Media plays an important role in the society, especially in terms of setting agenda. So, it is very important for us to seek a very productive relationship with the media so that we can reach out to alot of people with our activities”
He noted that the activities of the fire service command is anchored on the principle of humanitarian services, especially with saving of lives and properties.
“Apart from the time we would need to showcase our activities,we would also need to train and sensitise the public on safety tips and there’s no way we can achieve that if we don’t have a synergy with the media” he added.
In his own remarks, the Chairman of ASKOMP, Mr. Salihu Shola Taofeek commended the Federal Fire service newly appointed PRO for extending his hand of partnership to the media community.
While noting that the activities command aligns with that of the members of the Association, he expressed his optimism that the partnership will yield positive results.
Stressing that one of the essence of the media is to create awareness about the development in the society, he noted the collaboration with the command will not only enhance public safety but also create a window for exchange of ideas for development.
The Chairman said “One of the core principles of the Press is to also serve the society,and I believe our synergy will really go along way in preventing unnecessary fire incidents by way of educating the public through the media”
He further promised the leadership of the fire service command that members of the Association will continue to support them in all their activities
