The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested the wife of Oba Aliyu Alabi Yusuf, the Arojojoye II of Babanla in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, over alleged ties to banditry, gathered INCNews247.
According to PRNigeria, the monarch’s wife was picked up alongside his personal assistant and is currently being held at the DSS headquarters in Abuja.
The queen is accused of running a Point of Sale (POS) business allegedly used to facilitate ransom payments to criminal groups, while the aide is said to have acted as a conduit for suspicious financial transactions.
The arrests come weeks after a viral post on social media claimed that two monarchs — the “King of Alabe” and the “King of Babanla” — were apprehended with ₦120 million linked to banditry.
A PRNigeria fact-check later dismissed the post as false, revealing that the photographs used were AI-generated, while the Kwara State Police Command also denied knowledge of such arrests.
Despite the police rebuttal, the DSS has now placed the Babanla palace under the spotlight following the detention of the monarch’s wife and aide.
