The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the discovery of a substance suspected to be diesel in a well at Omikunle, Yemetu, Ibadan.
The incident came to light following a video that went viral on social media, sparking concerns among residents of the community.
In swift response, operatives from the Yemetu Police Division, supported by members of the neighbourhood watch, moved in to secure the environment and prevent any breach of peace.
According to the command, adequate security has been put in place around the area while investigations continue to unravel the source of the substance.
Authorities have also urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as efforts are being intensified to get to the root of the matter.
