2027 Presidency: Jonathan A Better Option For The North Than Peter Obi – PDP Chieftain Umar Sani

The Obidient Movement has called on former President Goodluck Jonathan to rally behind Labour Party’s Peter Obi instead of entering the 2027 presidential race.

The appeal follows a private meeting between the two leaders in Abuja on Thursday, which Obi later confirmed in a post on his X handle. He described Jonathan as “a very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader”, noting that their conversation focused on national issues.

Although speculations have mounted about Jonathan’s possible return to the ballot, he has not made any public declaration regarding his political plans.

Speaking on behalf of the Obidient Movement, its National Coordinator, Dr Yunusa Tanko, said while Jonathan remains a respected elder statesman, Obi embodies the aspirations of millions of Nigerians seeking change.

“They have shared a bond for years, and the meeting was an opportunity to deliberate on how to reposition Nigeria,” Tanko explained. “But for us in the Obidient Movement, Jonathan has already written his name in history. He is revered for his service, and this is the time to support Obi in leading the nation forward.”

Tanko maintained that the movement’s preference for Obi stems from its belief that the former Anambra governor represents a generational shift capable of delivering reforms that Nigerians are yearning for.
