A viral video circulating on Facebook has drawn attention to the vandalism of railway infrastructure at Onireke, Ibadan.
In the footage, a distressed woman laments that several iron components supporting the railway tracks have been removed by unknown individuals. She warned that such vandalism poses a serious risk to train operations and could potentially lead to accidents if trains continue to ply the route.
“The people who did this are heartless. If anything happens here, everyone will blame the government. But is this the work of government or citizens?” she queried in the video.
The woman further appealed to the Oyo State Government, the Federal Government, and the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to urgently carry out repairs to avert a possible tragedy.
As of press time, the NRC had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
