Jigawa State Police Commissioner, CP Dahiru Muhammad, has presided over the decoration ceremony of 510 newly promoted officers and men of the Command at the State Police Headquarters in Dutse.
The ceremony was a grand affair, with family members and friends of the promoted officers in attendance.
In a statement made available to journalists in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Shi’isu Adam, Muhammad congratulated the newly promoted officers on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, urging them to rededicate themselves to service.
According to the statement, CP Muhammad reminded them that promotion comes with higher responsibility and charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force: discipline, loyalty, and dedication.
“The newly promoted officers are expected to take on new challenges and responsibilities, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining law and order in Jigawa State,” he noted.
The Commissioner urged the newly promoted officers to continue to serve with dedication and professionalism, upholding the highest standards of the Nigeria Police Force.
“This promotion is a morale booster for the officers and a testament to their hard work and dedication to duty,” he added.
The statement reads that “among those honoured was DCP Olufemi Akinola, the outgoing Commanding Officer of 35PMF Dutse, who was elevated from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police. Three Chief Superintendents of Police were also promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police: ACP Aminu Sulaiman, ACP Baba Kura Haruna, and ACP Ahmed H. Umar.”
Additionally, the PPRO stated that “the ceremony saw the promotion of 23 Inspectors of Police to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police, 246 Sergeants to Inspectors of Police, and 236 Corporals to Sergeants. The newly promoted officers include INSPR Sagir Ibrahim, INSPR Muhammad Abdullahi, INSPR Jamilu Ali, and SGT Musa Abubakar, among others.”
Speaking on behalf of the promotees, DCP Olufemi Akinola expressed profound gratitude to the Police Service Commission, Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner of Police, and the Command’s Management Team for finding them worthy of the new responsibilities.
He assured that they will continue to serve with greater commitment, integrity, and professionalism, and work to strengthen community trust.
The promotion ceremony was filled with celebration, with officers taking photographs and exchanging pleasantries. Family members and friends of the promoted officers expressed joy and gratitude, describing the promotion as well deserved.
