President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the relocation of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) from the Federal Ministry of Works to the Presidency.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by the President.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the directive aims to strengthen coordination in geospatial data management and ensure more direct oversight of national mapping and land administration initiatives.

Although the minister did not specify detailed reasons for the change, the move aligns with the administration’s ongoing reform agenda and its growing reliance on geospatial intelligence to support infrastructure planning, land administration, and national security mapping.

The OSGoF serves as Nigeria’s apex mapping authority, providing essential geospatial data, services, and advisory support for government projects and policies.
