Assistant Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Akin Olowokere, has died after collapsing during a training session on Monday morning.
Olowokere, a former Sunshine Stars player and coach, was recently appointed to the Oluyole Warriors’ technical crew following the departure of the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching team.
The tragic incident occurred at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, where the team was preparing for Matchday 2 of the ValueJet Cup 2025. Eyewitnesses said Olowokere suddenly slumped on the pitch and was immediately attended to by medical personnel before being rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
His passing comes barely weeks after joining 3SC, marking a devastating blow to the club’s preparations for the new campaign.
