Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested 23-year-old Kingsley Chinamezu for the gruesome murder of his 44-year-old girlfriend, Miss Confidence Sunny, in Etche Local Government Area of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Iringe-Koko explained that Chinamezu, popularly known as Power Sharp, allegedly attacked and killed Sunny with a machete on July 30 in Umuebule community.
“After committing the crime, the suspect fled Rivers State but continued issuing threats to the victim’s family, boasting that he could harm them without facing any consequence,” she said.
Following a formal complaint by the deceased’s family, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to investigate the case.
The police spokesperson further noted that operatives of the AKU, acting on credible intelligence, tracked the suspect to his hideout in Egbeta village, Edo State, where he was arrested on August 15.
She added that evidence was being compiled, while the suspect was undergoing further investigation and profiling for possible links to other criminal activities.
