Ora-Igbomina was agog today as dignitaries, indigenes, and friends of the ancient town trooped in from far and near to celebrate the 10th edition of Ora-Igbomina Day 2025, which also featured the grand fundraising of ₦100 million in support of the town’s development projects.
The Governor of Osun State, who was represented by the Special Adviser on trade and investment (OSIPA), Hon. Felix Olatunji commended the Akesin of of Ora-Igbomina, Oba Samuel Oladoye Idowu and the entire people of the town for their unity, resilience, and commitment to community development. He described Ora-Igbomina as a shining example of how culture, tradition, and modern aspirations can blend to foster progress.
He assured that the Ora-Igbomina Water Scheme will be completed in no distant time, after which the people of Ora, Oke-Ila, and the surrounding communities will begin to fully enjoy the benefits of the dam.
He further promised that this is only the beginning, as many more developmental projects and dividends of democracy are still on the way for the town and the entire local government. He urged the people to remain united and supportive, assuring them that brighter days lie ahead.
His Excellency has directed that the ongoing road rehabilitation project, which his administration commenced from Ila-Orangun, be extended and completed up to the Kwara boundary in order to ease transportation and boost economic activities. The contractor has already been mobilized to site, and work has commenced on the road.
In his keynote address, the Chairman of the Occasion, Bishop Felix Owolabi, who was represented by Engineer Olamilekan Omoyajowo, extolled the virtues of Ora-Igbomina people, noting that they have remained known for their resilience, integrity, and communal spirit. He backed his words with action by announcing a personal donation of ₦10 million to the development fund.
In his personal contribution towards the development of the town, Engr. Omoyajowo generously donated the sum of ₦750,000, reaffirming his commitment to the growth and progress of Ora-Igbomina.
Also speaking, the Special Guest of Honour, Hon. Clement Akanni “Olohunwa”, Member representing Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, praised the organizers of the event for their dedication in making the day a colourful and memorable one.
Hon. Akanni who was represented by his aide, Hon. Saheed Lamidi further encouraged the indigenes to continue supporting developmental initiatives and pledged a donation of ₦2 million.
In the same vein, various compounds, families, and associations took turns to make generous contributions, demonstrating their commitment to the growth and prosperity of Ora-Igbomina. The fundraising drive was met with enthusiasm, as pledges and donations poured in to support projects such as road rehabilitation, healthcare facilities, youth empowerment programs, and educational development.
The Akesin of Ora-Igbomina, Oba Samuel Oladoye Idowu in his royal address, expressed profound gratitude to all dignitaries, donors, sons and daughters of Ora-Igbomina and well-wishers who honoured the occasion. He reiterated his vision of transforming Ora-Igbomina into a model community where infrastructure, culture, and human capital thrive side by side.
The event was further spiced with traditional dances, cultural displays, and musical performances, which added colour and excitement to the celebration. For many, it was not only a day of fundraising but also a homecoming that rekindled unity and reaffirmed commitment to the town’s collective future.
As the curtains fell on the 10th Ora-Igbomina Day, one thing was clear: the community has once again demonstrated that with unity, sacrifice, and vision, a brighter future for Ora-Igbomina is within reach.
