Man Beats Wife To Death In Ekiti

Tragedy struck in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, as a domestic dispute turned fatal when a man allegedly beat his wife, Modupe Alasin, to death for returning late to the farm.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the woman was subjected to severe flogging by her husband after she arrived home later than expected. Her cries for mercy, they said, echoed through the neighbourhood as she was repeatedly assaulted.

According to one account, shortly after the beating, the husband ordered Modupe to fetch water from a nearby stream. It was on her way there that she reportedly slumped and died.

The incident has since thrown the community into mourning, with residents describing the development as “barbaric and heart-wrenching”.

Confirming the tragedy, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti State, SP Sunday Abutu, told The Nation that the suspect has been taken into custody for interrogation.

He assured that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action taken in line with the law.
