The Kwara State Ministry of Health yesterday, Friday, August 8, 2025 hosted the 2025 Joint Annual Review (JAR) meeting of the state’s health sector.
The meeting drew top policymakers, legislators, and sector stakeholders to assess and chart a renewed course for healthcare delivery.
The review which was held at the Cooperative Multipurpose Hall of the Ministry in Ilorin provided a robust platform for evaluating the state’s health performance in line with the National Health Policy and the Second National Strategic Health Development Plan.
The JAR remains a key accountability mechanism for national and sub-national health systems, ensuring policy alignment, monitoring, and evaluation in tune with the National Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII).
The meeting, convened by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, had in attendance the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Health & Nutrition, Hon. Arinola Fatima Lawal; Hon. Mohammed Baba Salihu, a member of the Committee; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry; and other critical stakeholders.
Dr. El-Imam underscored the importance of the session, noting that it offers a “Statewide Approach (SWAp) to reviewing achievements, identifying gaps, and setting priorities for the next fiscal year to strengthen service delivery and public health outcomes.”
Speaking on behalf of the House Committee on Health & Nutrition, Hon. Arinola Fatima Lawal applauded the visionary leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, whose health sector reforms, she said, have laid the foundation for improved healthcare infrastructure, human resource development, and service coverage.
She also commended Dr. El-Imam’s stewardship and the dedication of stakeholders across the sector.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to consolidating ongoing reforms, scaling up public health interventions, and aligning state priorities with national targets under the NHSRII.
