Hardship: Tinubu Receiving Backlash , Governors Getting Richer – Shehu Sani

Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has accused state governors of failing to take meaningful action to ease the hardship confronting Nigerians, despite the economic strain caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Sani argued that while President Bola Tinubu is facing public outrage over the biting hardship, many governors are “smiling to the banks” and avoiding accountability.

His remarks come amid rising anger over soaring fuel prices and the escalating cost of living. According to him, Nigerians are enduring severe economic pressure, yet state governments have largely remained passive in addressing citizens’ distress.

In a post on X, the former senator wrote: “The subsidy was removed. The people are bearing the brunt. The President is receiving the bashing. The governors are receiving the alerts.”
