The Federal Government has approved an upward review of the cost of obtaining the Nigerian passport, effective from September 1, 2025.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), A.S. Akinlabi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to him, the decision is part of efforts to sustain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, which is due for rollout on the same date.
Under the new rates, a 32-page passport with five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with 10-year validity has been pegged at ₦200,000.
Akinlabi clarified that the increase only applies to applications made within Nigeria. Fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged — $150 for the 32-page passport (five years) and $230 for the 64-page passport (10 years).
The NIS, he added, remains committed to striking a balance between service quality and accessibility for citizens.
