The Federal Government yesterday raised the alarm over the circulation of counterfeit Cowbell “Our Milk” sachets in markets across the country, warning that the product poses grave risks to public health.
In a statement issued through its official website, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) disclosed that Promasidor Nigeria Limited, makers of Cowbell Milk, had confirmed the presence of the fake product in circulation.
According to NAFDAC, the counterfeit milk is packaged to look almost identical to the genuine Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachet, thereby making it difficult for consumers to detect the difference.
The agency cautioned that consumption of the product could endanger lives and urged Nigerians to exercise vigilance when making purchases. It further appealed to the public to report any suspicious milk products found in shops or open markets.
