The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami (rtd), has passed away at the age of 81.
His death was confirmed in a statement on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi by the Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar-Dutsinmari.
According to the statement, the monarch died on Saturday night in a London hospital after a brief illness.
The late Emir is survived by four wives and seven children.
Details regarding his burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
