Panic erupted at the Delta State Government House, Asaba, over the weekend when a cow slated for slaughter went on a rampage, leaving staff members injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred during preparations for the butchering of the animal. One of the victims, a man in his 30s, sustained severe injuries after being knocked down while attempting to subdue the cow. He was initially rushed to the Government House Clinic for emergency treatment before being transferred to an undisclosed hospital, where he is reportedly in critical condition.
Another staff member, identified only as Peter, a cook at the Government House, also sustained injuries in the attack.
Sources revealed that the first two butchers called to handle the cow fled after failing to control the animal. The critically injured victim was the second person summoned to complete the task.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the Delta State Government House.
