Bauchi Governor Appoints Chinese National As Economic Adviser

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed a Chinese national, Mr. Li Zhensheng, as Economic Adviser to the state government.

The announcement was made during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bauchi State Government and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi.

Governor Mohammed said the appointment and partnership were strategic moves to position Bauchi as a hub for international cooperation, with a focus on attracting investment, driving infrastructure projects, and fostering bilateral initiatives in agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade.

As part of the agreement, Bauchi will establish a representative office in China to coordinate projects and ensure their timely delivery.

The governor stressed that the collaboration was in line with the diplomatic framework between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, noting that it would stimulate foreign direct investment, create jobs, enhance technical skills, modernise key sectors, and elevate the state’s global standing.

In his response, Zhensheng, who also chairs the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre, pledged to mobilise resources towards Bauchi’s economic transformation. He promised sustainable growth, modern infrastructure, and improved livelihoods for the people of the state.
