A 50-year-old man, Modu Isa, has been rescued after attempting to take his own life in Bama, Borno State.
The incident, which occurred on Friday evening at Hausari Ward, was made public by counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, through a post on his X handle on Saturday.
According to eyewitnesses, Isa reportedly stabbed himself three times in the stomach before cutting off his penis with a knife. Community members immediately rushed to his aid and alerted security operatives.
It was gathered that Isa’s action followed his frustration after his former wife, Bayanxe Modu of Konduga, whom he had divorced three times, refused to return to his home despite his pleas.
“Police led a patrol team to the scene, recovered the knife as an exhibit, and evacuated the victim to General Hospital, Bama, where he is currently responding to treatment,” Makama disclosed.
Sources further confirmed that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri for proper investigation.
