President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Adeyemi Olumode as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

The appointment was made public on Wednesday through a statement issued by retired Major-General Abdulmalik Jubril, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), on behalf of the Federal Government.

According to the statement, Olumode’s appointment follows the retirement of the incumbent Controller-General, Abdulganiyu Jaji, who is due to bow out of service on 13 August 2025 upon reaching the statutory retirement age of 60.

Jubril noted that Olumode is eminently qualified for the role, having successfully undertaken and completed all mandatory in-service training and command courses, both within and outside the country.

“Mr Olumode brings a wealth of institutional knowledge and leadership experience to his new role, having transitioned from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service, where he rose through the ranks to Deputy Controller-General (DCG) in charge of the Human Resource Directorate at the Service Headquarters,” the statement read.

In addition to his professional credentials, Olumode holds membership and fellowship status in several reputable bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

His appointment is expected to further drive reform and operational efficiency within the Fire Service as the administration seeks to enhance emergency response capacity across the federation.
