Hanan Buhari, daughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed appreciation to Nigerians for forgiving her father.
The former Nigerian leader passed away on Sunday, 13th July, at a London clinic after a prolonged, undisclosed illness. Reports indicated that Buhari had recently been discharged from intensive care before his health deteriorated.
His burial took place on Tuesday at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.
The news of his passing has continued to stir mixed reactions nationwide — from heartfelt tributes to critical commentaries on social media.
Speaking with BBC Hausa, Hanan reflected on her father’s legacy, particularly his sense of humour, which she said she would miss the most.
“I will miss his sense of humour the most. He was a part of me. I want to sincerely thank everyone who forgave my late father.
“On behalf of our family, we are grateful. We have nothing to say other than to thank God. He disciplined me to study, pray, and do the things that brought us joy.
“That is all I can say. But since Allah has willed it, Alhamdulillah, I had the privilege of being with him and reciting the Qur’an to him,” she stated.
