Protest Erupts At Lagos Assembly As APC Members Demand Chairman’s Ouster
Osun

A wave of discontent swept through the Lagos State House of Assembly complex on Monday as aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) staged a protest, calling for the immediate removal of the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.

The demonstrators, reportedly drawn from all 57 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state, gathered at the Assembly premises in Alausa, Ikeja, bearing placards with bold inscriptions such as “Ojelabi Must Go” and “We Demand New Leadership.”

The protestors expressed growing dissatisfaction with Ojelabi’s leadership, urging a major restructuring of the party’s state apparatus in anticipation of forthcoming political engagements.

A strong deployment of police operatives was observed at the scene to maintain law and order, ensuring the demonstration remained peaceful and devoid of disruption.

As at the time of filing this report, there had been no official statement from either the state Assembly leadership or the APC state executive in response to the protest.
