Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned down a ₦100 million offer to engage in a physical bout with social media personality, Martins Otse, alias VeryDarkMan (VDM), insisting that he would only accept the challenge if offered a staggering ₦1 billion.
The artist made the statement in a viral Instagram video over the weekend, amid an intensifying feud with the outspoken commentator. Portable, known for his street-pop style and unpredictable antics, declared the ₦100 million offer to be “too small,” claiming he regularly receives that amount from fans.
“That ₦100 million, my fans give it to me. It’s too small for me to fight VDM. Let them bring ₦1 billion — I’ll fight and beat him,” Portable said.
The dispute between both men escalated after Portable publicly criticised VeryDarkMan’s repeated attacks on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. What began as a disagreement over political commentary has since devolved into a public spectacle, with both parties engaging in heated verbal exchanges and releasing diss tracks aimed at each other.
Portable also mocked those urging him to confront the online critic, stating:
“You’re scared of him. You can’t even arrest him, yet you want me to fight and beat him.”
As the drama continues to unfold online, observers have described the saga as another example of the growing culture of public spats between celebrities and influencers in Nigeria’s digital space.
Neither VeryDarkMan nor his representatives have responded to Portable’s new demands at the time of filing this report.
