In a moment of immense pride for Kwara State and the Federal Polytechnic Offa community, Segun Damilola Olaniyan, a distinguished alumnus of FEDPOFFA, has been honoured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential NYSC Honours Award Ceremony, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Segun is one of the 210 outstanding former corps members recognised for their meritorious service during their NYSC year between 2020 and 2023.

Among the awardees, he stood out for his exceptional contributions to his host community in Edo State, where he served.

Born into the reputable family of Late Baale Hon. Timothy Oladejo Olaniyan JP Ajiboye I (Baale of Alaake, Iya-Oje) and Olori Deborah Adedoyin Olaniyan JP of the Aareonibon Bejolori lineage in Masifa, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Segun’s journey has been rooted in values of service, leadership, and integrity.

An alumnus of Summit University (Bsc), Federal Polytechnic Offa (HND), and Kwara State Polytechnic (OND), his academic pursuit was consistently paired with a strong sense of civic responsibility.

As a student, he served diligently in several leadership roles, rising to the zonal level of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS, Zone C), where he championed student welfare and representation.

Segun’s NYSC service year in Edo State was marked by a string of impactful projects and leadership roles. From leading Platoon 6 to heading the Writers’ Team of the Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS), serving as President of the Educational Development CDS Group, and a committed member of the Quarter Guard and Nigeria Christian Corpers Fellowship (NCCF), Segun distinguished himself at every turn.

His community development legacy includes:
1. Renovation of a Primary Health Centre
2. Installation of solar-powered street lights
3. Construction of furniture for schools
4. Organization of debate competitions and career seminars for students

His initiatives, carried out with passion and purpose, left a lasting imprint on the lives of locals in his place of primary assignment.

Beyond his NYSC laurels, Segun is the founder of Oasis Foundation – Bejo Legacy, a non-profit platform advancing community development and youth empowerment.

He is also an active member of Junior Chamber International (Olubadan) and the Royal Ambassadors of Nigeria.

A true polymath, Segun is also a filmmaker, poet, song and scriptwriter, humanitarian, and activist, and holds professional certifications in Human Resources Management, Customer Relations Management, and Project Management.

His recent nomination for the 2025 Oyo State Youth Award (Community Service Category) further affirms his growing influence and impact.

In recognition of his contributions, President Tinubu awarded him ₦250,000, automatic employment in the Federal Civil Service, and a postgraduate scholarship in a Nigerian university.

The story of Segun Damilola Olaniyan is a compelling portrait of how vision, service, and sacrifice can open doors to national recognition. For the Federal Polytechnic Offa and the people of Ogbomoso, it is a moment of reflection and celebration, a reminder that greatness often begins with humble service.

“Service is not about position, but the value you leave in the lives you touch. I’m deeply honoured by this national recognition,” Segun said after receiving his award.
