Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has asserted that Igbo men are inherently ill-suited for politics, primarily due to their intolerance for betrayal — a trait he believes is prevalent in political circles.
Speaking in a recent interview with Afia TV, Edochie observed that the Igbo character is fundamentally averse to political deceit, which often leads to severed alliances and stunted political careers.
According to him, “An Igbo man is not a good politician. And I will tell you why — people accustomed to the treachery that comes with politics can tolerate and overlook many things. But the Igbo man is not built that way. If you betray him once, he’ll never allow you the chance to do it again. He withdraws.”
He continued, “The Igbo man is not constituted to endure political betrayal. The moment you display treachery, he cuts you off completely. That’s the nature of the average Igbo man.”
