Tension gripped commuters in Aba, Abia State, on Tuesday evening following the sudden death of a female passenger inside a commercial tricycle, commonly referred to as a Keke Napep.
The incident occurred at Umungasi, near Tonimas Filling Station, shortly before Abia State Polytechnic, as the tricycle was en route to Railway Junction, just before Ezeukwu Road.
According to eyewitness accounts, the yet-to-be-identified woman was seated among other passengers when she suddenly slumped without any prior signs of distress.
A passenger sitting beside her noticed she had become unresponsive and raised the alarm after attempts to rouse her failed.
“This is truly disturbing. I saw people gathered at Umungasi, and when I drew closer, I found out a woman had died inside the tricycle. She reportedly boarded the Keke with others but was discovered lifeless minutes into the journey,” a resident stated.
Residents have called on members of the public who may recognise the deceased to proceed to the scene near Tonimas Filling Station to assist in identifying her and notifying her family.
